The informal dining area is adjacent to the kitchen. The back door leads out to the rear courtyard and the carriage house or garage. Unlike many houses in Aragon, Ms. Ritchie has chosen not to create a second story to her carriage house in order to preserve her view of Escambia Bay.

The wooden cabinets are finished in a unique range of muted primary colors.

The floors in the downstairs living area are finished with a mottled painted surface.

Lunch features a fish fry served with baked beans, Nassau grits, cheese grits, and coleslaw.

In addition to the fish fry, delicious dessert treats and homemade ice cream are available.

All foods were prepared and consumed in the kitchen-dining area, except for summertime. Preliminary food preparation occurred in the dog trot during this time. The water bucket was kept full for kitchen use.

Meals were breakfast, dinner, and supper. At meal times, hands were washed, hats off, grace said, and order and quiet prevaield. Food was passed, everyone, took a share, and was expected to eat what was taken.

The home is located on a large lot overlooking Bayou Texar. The lot is bisected by Whaley Avenue. A summer kitchen and boat dock are on the water side of the street.

Madisons Diner is located on the north side of the building. A variety of southern style soul food is served seven days a week.

The kitchen interior was designed by Dolly Berthelot and custom built to provide additional work space while keeping water views and a style compatible with the original floor plan. Simple custom wood cabinets in the Shaker style use painted pine fronts that simulate the antique beveled heart pine on the porch and upstairs ceiling and in some kitchen area walls.

The restaurant was opened in 1986 in what had been the Lawrence Hardware Building.

Two stained glass windows came from an old spaghetti factory in New Orleans.

The beaded pine walls were covered with many coats of paint which were removed by sandblasting.

The 28 foot banquet table holds a multiselection of foods, including 15 - 20 salads, two meat dishes, four vegetables, as well as blueberry muffins and fried biscuits.

The view of the deck adjacent to the camp store shows an ample supply of seating arrangements from rocking chairs and swings to picnic tables.

A series of decks and walkways lead down the hill in the rear of the home.

The deck is on the north side of the house. It is 13 x 25 feet across the back of the home.

Beamed ceilings are typical of the style as can be seen in the major rooms.

The current dining room was originally a paneled study/library. In the late 1930s, the paneling was removed leaving the plaster walls exposed. The ceiling is wallpapered in a Victorian design.

There are two bedrooms, two baths, a kitchen and a living area in the downstairs guest quarters.

There are no columns to impede the view in the upstairs living area.

The 24 foot ceilings give the room a spacious, open feeling.

The table was painted by Larry Grossman and acquired by Nancy directly from the artist.

Walls are heart-pine throughout the house. Nancy stripped the walls by sanding them down to the bare wood over a three month period.

Just beyond Dharma Blue there is an italian restaurant in the two story building. The green umbrellas designate the difference between Dharma and Tre Fratelli's.

From the northwest corner of Government and Alcaniz, the law firm of Kerrigan, Estees, Rankin and McLeod can be seen across the street.

The pub is located on the north side of Seville Square on Government Street.

Three outdoor cafes can be seen in this photograph. Hub Stacey's Pub is across Government Street on the left of the photograph. Tre Fratelli is the cafe in the foreground and Dharma Blue has mauve umbrellas in the background.
