Pensacola Light is maintained by the US Coast Guard, but it is located on the Pensacola Naval Air Station. The NAS is open to the public, and the grounds are accessible for a lighthouse visit. Tours of the tower are only by appointment or during summer Sundays.

Riprap, seen in the foreground normally works by absorbing the impact of a wave before the wave reaches the cliff or sea defense, and so minimizes the erosion caused by the wave

Looking down the hump towards the east at the city of Gulf Breeze. The old bridge sections can be seen at left. That was the bridge that crossed the bay previous to the new bridge. It was used for fishing until Hurricane Ivan took portions of it down. The isolated sections are being brought down one by one.

If you look at the top of the tower on the right, you can see the Fire Department name in the concrete.

The tower is just north of West Navy Blvd. (also called Hwy. 98) and just west of the Fire Department Substation on North Q Street. Google Maps has a great photo from above that shows where the tower is in relation to everything else around it.

The raised portion of Navy Blvd. can be seen behind the tower. The Highway goes over some rail road tracks just west of the tower location.
