Mackey Point is a development area on the water off Scenic Hwy. The homes are built on piers and surrounded by a wet prairie ecological community. Wet savannas are also well known as important habitats for frogs and snakes. The little grass frog, southern chorus frog, spring peeper, southern cricket frog, southern black racer, cottonmouth, and yellow rat snake all thrive in this wetland habitat.
