The red clay bluffs are a unique feature along Scenic Hwy in Pensacola. The road travels along an 11-mile through a neighborhood with a magnificent view of Escambia Bay.
Bay Bluffs Park offers an opportunity to stop and explore the bluff beach front which is very different in composition and color from the squeaky, white sand on Santa Rosa Island just a few miles away on Pensacola Beach. The 32-acre park is located several miles from the I-10 overpass. It offers numerous wooden boardwalks leading visitors through dense forest to the bay.

The steps gradually descend through a pine and oak forest to the bay.

The path leads to a sandy beach along Escmabia Bay.
-
A ridge of the bluffs separates CSX train tracks from the beach.

The beach sand is colored pink by the red clay of the bluffs.

The red clay bluffs fade into the pink sandy beach. The colored sand is a stark contrast to the glimming white quartz sand along the Gulf of Mexico on nearby Pensacola Beach.
-
The CSX tracks are at the foot of the bluffs, separated from the beach by a small ridge.
