Located near historical Milton, FL, Pond Creek is a narrow waterway that traverses both urban and wilderness areas, eventually flowing into Blackwater River.
It is a river swamp with floodplain woodland which is periodically inundated from the overflow of the nearby river. As a result, the soil of the floodplain and bottomlands is silty, very rich in nutrients and supports a large assemblage of trees and vines.
