The town of Brewton has a history of industrial and manufacturing activities, including timber, textiles, and foundries, starting in the mid 1800's. It was a wealthy community at the turn of the 20th Century as can be seen by the beautiful homes that line Belleville Avenue.
Belleville Avenue runs through downtown where historic homes and beautiful oak trees line the streets and house many memories from families past and present. These old, southern-style homes are a delight to residents and visitors alike. The families often open their doors during the bi-annual Tour of Homes where the public is invited inside to take a first hand look at the city’s residential history.
