Pensacola: Historic Pensacola Village: Dorr HouseDorr House is a museum in the Historic Village complex. The Clara Barkley Dorr House is Pensacola's best preserved example of post-Civil War classical Greek revival architecture, modified by local construction techniques. Clara Barkley and Eben Dorr married in 1849 and lived in Bagdad, Florida where Dorr was associated with the E. E. Simpson Company, a large West Florida lumber company. Dorr was the Territorial Sherriff when Walker Anderson's hand was branded "S" for slave stealing. Mr. Dorr died in 1871.Mrs. Dorr built this house which reflects the life style of a "family of means" in the late 19th century. (Source: Johnson, Sandra and Virginia Parks.
