Milton: CourthouseThe old courthouse was already overcrowded by 1914 and then declared unsafe in 1922. Pensacola architect Chandler Yonge designed the present courthouse in "Classic Monumental" style. Hugger Construction Company of Montgomery built it for $137,000 in six months. The courthouse building was dedicated on July 4, 1927. The jail was on the third floor but was removed in 1960. (Source: Green, Laurie. “Images of America: Santa Rosa County.” ISBN 0-7524-0875-5.)
